Joe is responsible for executing the Carmens Group strategic plan and for championing many of the company’s operational initiatives. Through his leadership Carmens Group’s venues have achieved tremendous success and have garnered regional and national recognition for the company’s unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Joe has spent time working in every department within Carmens Group, offering him first-hand knowledge of every aspect of the business. When the C Hotel by Carmens opened in 2011, Joe assumed the role of the hotel’s President and focused on delivering extraordinary guest experiences in a unique and charming atmosphere. His expertise in the food and beverage industry along with his passion for delivering top notch service contributed to the success of the hotel’s chic, upscale Italian eatery, Baci Ristorante. Due to his efforts the hotel was awarded with TripAdvisor’s 2015 Travelers’ Choice Award for being ranked seventh on their list of Canada’s Top 25 Hotels.
As co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of the Carmens Group, Joe received his CHA designation in 2014 for demonstrating advanced knowledge in the hospitality industry and for showing exemplary leadership. He also carries a graduate certificate from Cornell University for Hotel Revenue Management. Passionate about the growth of the tourism sector in Hamilton, Joe is an active member of HUPEG assisting in the revitalization of Hamilton’s downtown core.
Joe is an active member in the Hamilton community previously serving on Executive Boards including the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Diabetes Association, Southwest Region. Joe is currently Chair of Hamilton Foodshare for the fourth consecutive year and is a proud member of the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice Board of Directors. He is heavily involved in donating his time to local charities and fundraising initiatives as well as a proud recipient of the Hamilton-Niagara’s Top 40 Under 40 by The Business Link Media Group.
Joe is the current Fundraising Campaign Chair for the future Children’s Hospice in Hamilton. His dedication to the project has been a passion and an honour to serve the future children and families in Hamilton who do not have the services they deserve.
Family, travelling, health and wellness and a passion for all things Superman define Joe’s personal life. Joe lives in Ancaster with his wife Rachel and his three children Joseph, Savannah and Evangeline.
