Kicks for Kids Returns in 2025 to Support Local Youth

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Carmens Group are proud to announce the return of Kicks for Kids, the club’s longest-running community initiative, for its 17th season in 2025. Last year, this impactful program raised $2,500 to provide new shoes for local youth supported by United Way Halton & Hamilton agencies.

“We are thrilled to partner with Carmens Group and announce the return of our Kicks for Kids program, our longest-running community initiative,” said Courtney Stephen, Senior Director of Marketing & Community Partnerships with Hamilton Sports Group. “This program gives us the opportunity to support the youth in our local communities by providing them with the essential footwear they need for their everyday lives.”

What is Kick for Kids?

Kicks 4 Kids raises money for the purchase of running shoes for underprivileged kids through the accomplishments of the Tiger-Cats field goal kickers. For every successful field goal of 40 yards or more at a Tiger-Cats home game, Carmens Group will donate $100 per yard over 40—meaning a 45-yard kick equals a $500 donation. The Tiger-Cats will match these donations, doubling the impact.

At the end of the season, young participants from United Way agencies shop for brand-new shoes alongside Tiger-Cats players and Carmens Group representatives. The Kicks for Kids shopping event took place on March 1, 2025 at Sport Chek, Meadowlands Power Centre.

“We’re incredibly proud to support Kicks for Kids,” says PJ Mercanti, CEO of Carmens Group. “Giving back to our community’s youth is at the heart of what we do. This program allows us to make a tangible difference—helping kids step confidently into their future.”

Making an Impact

Since its inception, Kicks for Kids has helped provide thousands of children with proper footwear, ensuring they have the comfort and confidence to succeed.

“At United Way Halton & Hamilton, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and a new pair of shoes can make a world of difference.” said Brad Park, President & CEO, United Way Halton & Hamilton. “We are incredibly grateful to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Carmens Group for their continued commitment to empowering local youth through the Kicks for Kids initiative. By working together, we can help ensure that every child has the support they need to take their next steps—both on and off the field.”
