09 Jan Carmen’s Group welcomes Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club into Portfolio
Carmen’s Group is proud to announce its newest strategic partnership as it welcomes Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club into its portfolio of regional hospitality venues. The private club is the group’s fifth event space in the city and marks their first expansion into the Dundas area.
“Carmen’s Group is humbled and honoured to align with the prestigious Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club as their food and beverage and event services partner. We are excited to help strengthen the club’s position as one of the premier golf and hospitality destinations in Southern Ontario,” said PJ Mercanti, CEO, Carmen’s Group.
Carmen’s Group will manage the food and beverage operations in the Stanley Thompson Lounge and Bertram Curling Lounge as well as all event services in the club’s ballroom overlooking the Dundas Valley. The goal of the partnership is to maintain the quality and esteem that the Club is known for, while applying Carmen’s Group’s industry expertise to enhance all hospitality operations and to increase the volume of special events held at the facility.
Carmen’s Group began in the 1970s as a small family-owned bakery on Concession Street and has since grown into a hospitality brand with over 400 employees. The company made headlines in 2013 for securing the rights to operate the Hamilton Convention Centre, a move that has saved the local taxpayers $4 million dollars to date. The welcoming of Dundas Valley into the Group’s portfolio comes one year after RISE, the much-lauded rebranding event held in November 2015. The Company has been looking to expand its footprint within the Greater Hamilton region, making the partnership with the Club an ideal fit.
“Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club has a rich history and is widely recognized as the Treasure in the Valley” says Rick Michal, President of Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club “We are excited to partner with Carmen’s Group and confident in their ability to deliver unparalleled hospitality experiences to our members and to welcome new guests to our facility to host their memorable events.”
Dundas Valley Club opened in 1937 as a golf course, and in 1955 welcomed the addition of a Curling Club, becoming the first dual-purpose club of its kind in Canada. In 2012, the Clubhouse was renewed through an extensive $8 million renovation, including the addition of event spaces with 270 degree views of the Niagara escarpment. Headed by Executive Chef Jonathan Fischer, Dundas Valley Golf & Curling Club offers inspiring menus suitable for all kinds of events, from cocktail receptions to customized seated dinners and weddings.
