Kicks for Kids 2015

Carmen’s Group Community Program “Kicks for Kids” Gives New Shoes to Children in Need

On December 5th Carmen’s Group and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, along with the United Way and Reebok, teamed-up to provide kids from our community with brand new running shoes as part of the Kicks for Kids program. This program, which Carmen’s Group has been involved with for eight seasons, raised $5,600 through the accomplishments of kicker Justin Medlock during the Ticats 2015 home schedule. When Medlock successfully kicked a field goal of at least 40 yards at Tim Hortons Field, Carmen’s Group donated $100 for every additional yard over 40. Medlock’s 55-yard field goal in the Eastern Semi-Final playoff game vs. Toronto contributed $1500 to the program alone!

Last Saturday, Ticats players Mike Filer, Bryan Hall and alumnus Paul Osbaldiston joined our very own JC Campos, Henri Zapora and his two sons, Jack and Sam, at the Reebok store located in the Outlet Collection at Niagara.  They had a fun and enriching experience helping close to 80 kids from the United Way community assistance program find the perfect running shoes they desperately needed to participate in school activities and recreational sports. Since the inception of the program, which is the longest standing community program of any CFL team, over $60,000 has been raised which has helped to purchase shoes for over 1,400 children in Hamilton.

We’re grateful to have incredible partners, like the United Way and the Ticats, that help us to bring a little joy to the lives of the children in our community. While we hope to begin every day of the year with a spirit of generosity, this festive season always reminds us of what truly matters in life: helping our fellow human being.

Yours in Hospitality,
